Interview with Amelia Burnett

t21: Favorite hour of the day?
AB: Every hour is beautiful, especially depending on where your are, what your are doing, who you are with, etc.

t21: First website you check?
AB: Changes every day.

t21: Personal motto?
AB: Live in the moment, go with the flow.

t21: What makes you want to pursue filmmaking?
AB: Filmmaking was not a field I thought I would be entering or pursuing. I was more photography/sculpture-based with my work. Once I combined those mediums it turned into more film-based projects. I'm enjoying the new outcomes though, and I'm intrigued to do more.

t21: What's it like to be a student in New York?
AB: Like nothing else I could ever imagine; It is fast, smart, thrilling, scary and so much more. New York City is a melting pot, and I'm so glad to be a part of it.

t21: Favorite city or landmark?
AB: Fields, streams and forests back home in Pennsylvania.

t21: Favorite public figure?
AB: I don't think I have a favorite.

t21: The biggest global problem today?
AB: I think it would be impossible to say there is one problem in the world bigger than another. There are so many things in the world right now that need to be fixed, altered, helped, saved... where to start? Be there for your friends, family, community, schools, local governments. Start in your own backyard; maybe it really is the small things that count in the end.

t21: Last meal you made?
AB: Mac  & Cheese.

t21: Coffee , tea or water?
AB: All three.

t21: Boat, plane or train?
AB: Train.

t21: Latest obsession?
AB: Learning the names of plants both Latin and common, understanding the difference between perennials, annuals, trees, shrubs, etc. Growing my own veggie garden.

t21: Source of inspiration?
AB: That is an ever-changing rollercoaster.

t21: A topic you aspire to create a film about?
AB: I'm not sure yet, that is a work in progress.

t21: Whom would you love to work with?
B: Anyone who would love to work with me.

t21: What motivated you to make Forest?
AB: "Into the Sierra Nevada Mountains" by Bierstadt. I wanted to make it come to life.

t21: Biggest obstacle in making it?
AB: Time and money. Of course, right?

t21: What do you hope people get out of the film when they watch it?
AB: A smile!

t21: Ten-year goal?

AB: To be teaching in public schools, pushing ideas of alternative art education.

t21: What's next?
AB:Finishing college in a reasonable amount of time, and staying happy.

t21: Your question for t21?
AB: I've heard a lot about t21 since you asked to feature my short on your website. It is up-and-coming and doing rather well for itself, I heard you may be changing the name soon? How has the process of starting up a website been for you? It's such a great idea and I'm excited to see where it will go from here.

t21:
Thanks for your feedback! The rumor mill is wrong. We’re definitely telegraph21 at least for the next 100 years. Unless you suggest something we like better:)
The start-up process has been exhilarating and exhausting. Seeing so many creative ideas is completely inspiring, but it’s also been a lot of work. Ultimately, we feel lucky to have the opportunity to create a space like telegraph21.
